New York has some advantages when it comes to "Leave Peeping."  A recent press release from "I Love NY", an arm of the state's Tourism Department, details the current status of the annual color change.  Old Forge appears to be at the peak change while the Catskills Region is about 80%.  But hop over to the Finger Lakes and it's only about 40%.  Eric Scheffel, a spokesperson for I Love NY, says that's what makes the state so unique, the different stages.

I Love NY's website even provides a detailed foliage map that let's you know where the peak colors are located.  This is the current map, the darker the color the more the leaves have changed.  And if you love checking out the leaves, they're always looking for "Leave Peepers" to share the conditions in their area on a weekly basis.  Just e-mail  foliage@empire.state.ny.us
