Who Sang the Top Canadian Song of Past 40 Years?

Who would you vote for as having the top Canadian song of the past 40 years. In celebration o fthe 40th anniversary of the Juno Awards, the Canadian Academy of Recording ARts and Sciences conducted the facebook poll. Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” and “Party for Two” are in the runnning along with six hits from Anne Murray including “Snow Bird,” “Danny’s Song” and “You Needed Me.”

Since Shania Twain was the reason I started listening to country music, I’d have to give her my vote. I remember hearing “Any Man of Mine” and I was hooked. I’ve been a country fan ever since.
Fans in Canada however, may have a different perspective. There are a number of successful Canadian Country Music Artists we rarely or never hear in the U.S. You won’t hear Anne Murray being played on many U.S. radio stations, but she’s an icon north of the border.
The official list from the Academy will be released later today. Maybe we should conduct our own poll of the best Country Song of the past 40 years in the U.S. Who would get your vote?
