Whitesboro Central School Bus Driver Charged with DWI-Drug Charges

A Whitesboro Central School bus driver has been arrested for DWI charges for alleged drug impairment.

UPDATED 12:36 - Michele Daly has been placed on administrative leave by the school district.

Whitesboro Superintendent Brian Bellair is commending the coaches and athletes for their help in resolving the situation safely.  Bellair says the district is cooperating with State Police and cannot comment further at this time.

During the course of a trip to Fulton High School for a lacrosse game the students on board had called 911 to report erratic driving by the driver. After receiving several complaints, the bus was pulled over by officer from the DeWitt Police Department.

According to the New York State Police, interviews were conducted with the drivers, students and coaches. It was determined that 46-year-old Michele Daly was under the influence of prescription medication. She was driving 25 students from ages 14-18 and 2 coaches.

Daly was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated DWI-Drugs, fourteen counts of endangering the welfare of a child and a traffic violation. She was arraigned and released to appear in the Village of East Syracuse Court at a later date.
