Out of the thousands of lakes and ponds throughout the state of New York, which one was named the best?

With all the beautiful lakes that are scattered through our state, you would think it would be pretty hard to pick the best one. Would it be one in the Adirondacks like Lake Placid or Saranac Lake? Or maybe it would be out west like Lake Geneva?

Well, according to Cheapism it isn't any of those listed above. They created their list of the best lakes in each state, and named Lake George as the top one for New York. According to their website,

Nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes," there's tons of fun to be had at this Adirondack foothills lake. In addition to playing on its beaches, renting a boat, or chartering a fishing boat, visitors can book a ride on the Lake George Steamboat Co.'s Minne-Ha-Ha, one of the last steam paddlewheel boats in America...

Even though New York has shoreline on two of the Great Lakes (Lake Ontario and Lake Erie), these were not named on Cheapism's best list. They may be Great Lakes, but not compared to Lake George.

What do you think? Did Cheapism get it right? What's your favorite lake in New York? Let us know in the 'comments section' at the bottom of this page.
