It's going to be awhile before we stick a spade in the ground for gardening. It's even too soon to think about sprouting something, but it is the right time to think about "what to grow" this year.  The Master Gardeners at Cornell Cooperative Extension have a tool that will help you decide what grows best in CNY.

Vegetable Varieties for Gardeners is a web-based tool that compiles information from gardeners to help you decide what to grow.  The program even offers tips on the best varieties of specific vegetables, the ones that are the most disease resistant and shares the experiences of other gardeners.

For example, here are the top varieties:

  1. Cayenne Long Peppers
  2. Amish Snap Peas
  3. Thai Dragon Peppers
  4. Sunburst Squash – Summer
  5. Cherokee Trail of Tears – Beans

There's also reviews on growing experiences, including the top 5 varieties of tomatoes. You can even offer your own reviews and share good and bad gardening experiences.
