Westmoreland Family Picking Up The Pieces After Losing Home in Fire [PHOTOS]

The Fitzgerald family is picking up the pieces after losing their home in a fire. Sean and Haley Fitzgerald have lived in the house on Route 5 and 233 in Westmoreland for 17 years. Sean just finished remodeling a back room.

Just days ago, the family was celebrating their son Dane's prom. He was our daughter Shayna's date.

Shayna was with the family to see the flames destroy their home. She also got to see the generosity of others as firefighters from several departments each gave the family $100.

Luckily no one was injured and the family pets even made it out after the efforts of local hero Gary Johnson, who was passing by and stopped to help.

The cause of the fire that started in the basement, is not known although WIBX is reporting a chemical reaction may have triggered the blaze.
