West Rome Drive-In Reopening July 6

The new screen is up, the grounds are being prepared and you can almost smell the popcorn. The West Rome Drive-In, one of the last drive-in movie theaters in upstate New York, will reopen to the public July 6th. According to YNN the Davidson Automotive Group, which owns the property, responded to public demand in renovating and re-opening the drive-in.
“When we bought the property, it wasn’t something that was on our minds, but there was an outcry from the public and we decided to go ahead and put the theater back in for the community,” said Doug Davidson, Davidson Automotive Group Vice President.
WKTV reports that the improvements are continuing.
The Davidson Auto Group now owns the property and says they’ve been busy over the past few weeks, putting in a new ticket window and concession stand and paving a 1,000 foot driveway for cars get back to the new drive-in. There will be enough room to fit a total of 225 cars at the drive-in but there is no word, just yet, on what it will cost for admission.
The renovated drive-in is expected to open July 6.
