Watkins Glen Voted Among The Top “America’s Coolest Small Towns” [VIDEO AND GALLERY]
When you think about Watkins Glen and the Finger Lakes Region of New York, two things immediately come to mind, Wineries and NASCAR. A travel website, Budget Travel asked their followers to vote for “America’s Coolest Small Towns,” and Watkins Glen made the list. See where the town stacked up in the survey and check out some photos and a video of what put them on the list.
To qualify for the “Small Town” balloting, a town’s popultation must be under 10,000, Watkins Glen comes in well under that mark at 1,859. The community also has to contain a quality of culture, warmth and something that makes it unique. Many know Watkins Glen for it’s great wineries and race track that hosts nearly every facet of automobile racing. But it also received a lot of votes for it’s beautiful scenery. Watkins Glen State Park is home to breath taking gorges, waterfalls and New York’s only National Forest.
Watkins Glen made the cut to the final 15 in voting, with Litiz, PA eventually being crowned the winner.
