Not only has today's technology improved the lives of humans, but canines too.  A woman in Germany is creating "doggie wheelchairs" (my term not hers) that allows them to still lead a life.  And before you think it's some sort of bare existence, check out this heart warming video of them playing fetch with 4-legged pooches.

According to Jay Hathaway at Gawker, Gritta Goetz has rescued several dogs from abysmal situations.

One of Goetz's dogs, Rina, was paralyzed when her former owners in Bulgaria used her for target practice. She miraculously survived, although 20 projectiles had to be removed from her body. Two of them had lodged in her spine, causing inoperable damage.
