Watch Out For Deer On The Thruway
As we begin travel and vacation season with Memorial Weekend at the end of the month, there’s word from the New York State Thruway Authority about deer on the roadway.

Here are the details from our sister station, WIBX:
“Watch out for deer. That’s the message the Thruway Authority wants motorists to remember while driving this spring.
According to Thomas Madison, Executive Director for the agency, “This year’s mild, warm winter has increased the deer population along the highway’s shoulders… It is vital that drivers remain aware of their surroundings and be on the lookout for deer along the roadside.”
The Thruway Authority is urging motorists to scan the roadway’s shoulders for deer, slow down when approaching them and always wear a seat belt when driving.
If you do have an accident with a deer, the group suggests you pull off the highway, activate your warning lights and call their emergency number at 1-800-842-2233, or dial 911.”
