A round of applause to the forest rangers who rescued the missing hikers in the high peaks of the Adirondacks.

Watch the harrowing rescue of 20-year old Blake Alois and 19-year old Madison Popolizio, both of Niskayuna, who spent two nights lost in the Adirondack Mountains. They were discovered 265 feet below the summit of Algonquin Peak.

Both were suffering from hypothermia and were treated at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

“We are proud of the actions taken by DEC’s Forest Rangers and our partners from the New York State Police and Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services during this search and rescue effort. DEC encourages all visitors to the High Peaks of the Adirondacks during the winter months to safely prepare for the elements and exercise caution," says DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos.
