We were very impressed with how beautifully Olivia Davies sang the National Anthem. She's only 15 years old.

Oliva gave us goose bumps while singing the National Anthem at a local Relay For Life event. We had no intention of making a video of her performance, but after the first few notes, we knew it was something special.

This 15-year-old certainly captured our attention. Olivia Davies from Dolgeville says's she has always loved singing.'

I always loved singing as a kid but I was pretty shy until about 6th grade, our town does this singing competition for the Violet Festival and I did that 3 times.. I don't take lessons though, just basic stuff like chorus at school. I haven't really thought about it going anywhere but that would be absolutely amazing. I do a lot more instrument wise but I prefer singing.

Olivia plays the guitar and saxophone but what she plays in the school band and during NYSSMA is the flute. NYSSMA is the New York School Music Association and sponsors approximately 145 solo, small ensemble and major ensemble festivals in New York State each spring. At solo and small ensemble festivals, students are given a performance evaluation that involves playing a graded solo from the NYSSMA Manual, playing scales and sight reading. At major ensemble festivals, school bands, choruses, and orchestras are evaluated.

We hope you enjoy her performance as much as we did. Olivia Davies has a very bright future ahead. Maybe the next Ryan Quinn of our area?
