The trout season is winding down, but there are still fish to catch.  The Department of Environmental Conservation says the trout that remain will put up a fight.

The number of trout remaining in New York streams may be lower, but the ones that remain are referred to as "survivors."  And the DEC says they'll fight like it.  They add that the best fishing occurs right after a big rainstorm.

Statewide trout fishing closes October 15, but many streams have an extended season. For instance, some Oneida County locations are open all year long while others have a "catch and release" season.  Here are details on the "trout season" for all New York counties.
