The Volkswagen recall involves 8 different models affecting 461,300 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada over a problem that can prevent front air bags from deploying in a crash.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting the world's biggest car-maker recall includes the VW Golf, Passat, Jetta, and Tiguan models assembled between 2010 and 2014.

In the affected vehicles, debris such as hair or fibers could interfere with the air bags’ clock spring, a cable that keeps the air bag powered while the car is being steered, according to information from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the cable were damaged, the electrical connection to the driver’s frontal air bag could be lost, VW said
