Utica Rome Speedway Season Opener Sunday

It’s a sure sign that the seasons are changing, the opening of the Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon. Gates will open for the tracks 51st season Sunday at 3:30 with a full slate of Dirt Modified, Pro Stock, Pure Stock and Sportsman racing starting at 6.
For defending Modified champion to Stewart Friesen to repeat and collect the $10,000 title, he will have to fend off one of the most talented fields weekly to do so. Former champions Pat Ward, Willy Decker, and Todd Burley will be on hand weekly along with Bobby Varin, Ronnie Johnson, Alan Johnson, Kenny Tremont, Ted Lamb, Paul Jensen, Steve Hulsizer, and more. Also in action to round the exciting evening will a full program of Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks. Matt Janczuk will look to repeat his 2010 performance in the Sportsman and repeat as champion while the Pro Stocks will be wide open with champion Rocky Warner moving on. Ron Hawker will again try to take another Pure Stock championship.
