Utica Rome Speedway Mourns The Loss Of Racer Steve Hulsizer This Weekend
The 2014 season continues at The Utica Rome Speedway this weekend. The 2nd weekend of racing will have a somber feel, as the speedway mourns the loss of longtime racer, Steve Hulsizer.
The flag dropped on the 53rd season at Utica Rome Speedway last Sunday and for the first time under The NASCAR banner.
"Mike Mahaney hopes the momentum that he gained with the opening night win can carry over to the lucrative 2014 Modified championship, worth $13,000 this season, and possible additional NASCAR money as well. With regular handicapping starting this week, Mahaney will have his work cut out for as Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, Pat Ward, Larry Wight, Ryan Phelps, Danny Varin, and all the other drivers he bested last week will now be starting in front of him. "

Steve’s racing accomplishments at Utica-Rome Speedway include multiple wins in three divisions with a win total of 37 victories, with his final win coming in a Modified on July 24, 2011. Overall, Steve had four Modified wins, 17 Sportsman wins, and 16 Pro Stock victories for a total of 37 wins in all at Utica-Rome Speedway with many more at other speedways.
