Looking to become a police officer right here in Central New York? The Utica Police Department is calling your name. 

The next police officer exam will be held Saturday, November 19th. You still have plenty of time to file, the last date to file is October 5th. According to the Rome Daily Sentinel, here's the following requirements:

 

- By the date of application, candidates must be a high school graduate or holder of a high school equivalency diploma. Candidates must possess a state driver’s license at the time of application. A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.

- Candidates must be at least age 19 before the exam date to be admitted to the written test. Those who reach who reach the age of 35 on or before the exam date are not eligible.

- Candidates must also be a legal resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Oswego, Lewis or Otsego counties for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the written test. Everyone employed by the city shall as qualification of employment, become a resident of Utica within six months of the date of initial service. During an employee’s time of service, they shall remain a city resident."
