The Utica Common Council has approved a budget for 2017-18 that calls for no tax increases again.

The Council passed the $69 million dollar spending plan last night that includes police department equipment and city street upgrades.

Councilman Joe Marino says they were able to make some amendments to the proposed budget.  He says the council increased spending for equipment for the Utica Police Department and for repairs to some fire houses.

Marino says the budget also includes $5 million to pave city streets.

The budget carries no property tax increase or layoffs.

It's the second time in three years Utica residents will see no property tax increase.
