USA Olympic Team Uniforms Not Made In USA
Washington is steaming over the news that the U.S.A. Olympic Team uniforms, designed by Ralph Lauren weren’t made in the U.S.A.
Here’s more information from our sister station, WIBX:
“The threads used to graphically unite the United States Olympic team are also uniting lawmakers on both sides of the aisles in Washington, DC today, but apparently not for a good reason. Lawmakers say that they are outraged that the uniforms being sported by U.S. Olympians are, from top to bottom, made in China.
Iconic American designer Ralph Lauren is responsible for the fashions and the company says that it is proud of the international partnerships that it has built over the years that enable the company to provide its apparel at reasonable prices in the United States.
New York’s Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Long Island Congressman Steve Israel have added their signatures to a letter sent to the United States Olympic Committee asking it to ensure that future U.S. Olympic attire in made on American soil.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner said, “You’d think they’d know better.” Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said, “They should be wearing uniforms made in America.”
Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid went one step further, saying, “I think they should take all the uniforms and put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again.” Here is the video posted on YouTube:”
