UPD: Crossing Guard Removed From Corner Of Genesee and Amy Ave.

Utica, NY (WIBX) – The Utica Police Department will no longer have a crossing guard at the corner of Genesee and Amy Avenue.

Sergeant Steve Hauck says budgetary issues are forcing the removal of UPD details at the corner.

“The money’s not there to pay for somebody to be there, so they had no other choice but to remove it,” Hauck said.

As of now, Hauck says this is the only crossing guard cut being made, though others may not be ruled out.
