No matter whether you grew up "back in the day" or in the "now times," at some point in the summer your parents threw you out of the house to get some fresh air.  Although today it may be more of "put down the phone, tablet or controller."  Cornell Cooperative Extension's NYS 4-H Youth Development Program gets the kids unplugger at least for a day with a summer camp.

Madison County 4-H is offering  a summer day camp, Back to Basics 2 for both 4-H and non-4-H members. The day is all about getting back to the basics. No electronics, t.v’s, phones or game systems. Its about cooking, gardening, crafting and fun fitness.

The one day camp is August 4th from 9-3 at CCE's location in Madison County, 100 Eaton St. Morrisville.  The morning begins with making a healthy snack, discussing nutrition as well as playing some games. There will be outside gardening to see where the food we cook with comes from, and campers will help make their own lunch using fresh ingredients. The afternoon will include crafts and sewing.

The cost for the day is $20.00 for 4-H members and $25.00 for non-members.  You can register online or call 684-3001 ext 109 or email Kim at kan58@Cornell.edu.
