Tropical Storm Debbie Drenches Florida

When we told friends we were buying a winter getaway place in Florida they all said “Watch out for those hurricanes”. Well, it’s not a hurricane (yet) but Tropical Storm Debbie has been drenching central and northern Florida the past few days . CNN reports that the storm is far from over.
The sprawling system’s tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or stronger extend out 200 miles from its center. Such sustained winds were recorded early Sunday evening in several spots on the Florida Panhandle, west of Apalachicola. There was been no let up in the powerful rain, which is forecast to continue through Tuesday.
