Looking to hop into the car and check out the beautiful fall foliage here in Upstate New York? Here's the top places to drive to, then hop out and hike.

1) Prospect Mountain Hiking

Just above Lake George Village, you can check out amazing views on the Prospect Mountain hiking trail. Most people who enjoy that hike drive the 5.9 mile toll road up to near the summit and then walk to the top. The colors look absolutely amazing from this mountain.

2) West Point’s Trophy Point

This area overlooks the Hudson River Valley. Trophy Point is also the location of the Battle Monument, which is one of the largest columns of granite in the world. While checking out this beautiful monument, you can check out the beautiful colors too.

3) "Grand Canyon of the East” at Letchworth State Park

This 17-mile gorge is the perfect place to set up a picnic and enjoy the beautiful colors. You'll also find three major waterfalls along the Genesee River. The tallest waterfall in New York State is located here; Inspiration Falls.

4) Cascade to Porter Mountain Trail

If you are driving up north to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, you'll have to add this trail to your list. This trail is a 5.7 mile heavily trafficked trail located near Lake Placid. The trail is accessible from May until October. Also, bring your dog; Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

5) How Are You Getting To These Trails?

Need a car/truck to drive to get to these trails? Make a trip to Carbone Chevy in New Hartford. You can find your next legacy car/truck from them. There are plenty of leasing and buying options available.
