While you enjoy snow here in Central New York, there is nothing stopping you from enjoying some ice cold beer too. Here are some of the top New York winter style beers.

1) Wizard's Winter Ale from the Middle Ages Brewing Company of Syracuse

This beer is jam packed with 6.8 percent alcohol, and it's made in the style known in Britain as a strong ale. According to New York Upstate, Wizard's is a brownish-orange beer with some fruity hop character and a biscuit-like malt flavor.

2) Lovely, Dark and Deep from the Brewery Ommegang of Cooperstown

This beer will make you feel better during the winter time. It's an oatmeal stout, at a not-too-strong 5.3 percent alcohol. Drinkers say this brew is a little sweet and with enough body that it seems possible to eat it with a spoon.

3) Black Tie Chocolate Porter from the Lake Placid Craft Brewing

The Black Tie Porter is developed by Lake Placid Pub & Brewery and bottled at Saranac in Utica. Black Tie is made with Madagascar vanilla beans and cocoa nibs, and is 7 percent alcohol.

4) Season's Best from the F.X. Matt Brewing Co. in Utica

Did you know that this beer is the oldest continuously brewed winter seasonal made in New York state? This beer showcases malt, and it's a lager (Vienna-style) with a rich, nutty flavor.
