If you're looking for authentic Southern Style BBQ, without having to travel to the south, Tin Rooster at Turning Stone's Exit 33 is the place to go.  From fried green tomatoes and corn bread to pulled pork and beef ribs; each dish is prepared from scratch, in a smoker, including the chicken wings and the sweet tea.  Yes the sweet tea, which I've never really liked until I tasted the Tin Rooster sweet tea, is cooked in the smoker.

We had the opportunity to try almost everything on the menu.  My favorite was the fried green tomatoes, but was surprised I enjoyed the chicken wings.  I'm not a big fan, but their wings are smoked and then finished on the wood grill, making the meat fall off the bone.

They have something for every appetite.  You can choose from pulled pork sandwiches or the Rooster Burger if you just want something small.  For the larger appetites they have the Pit Master Platter which includes beef short ribs, brisket and kielbasa.  You can also order the Tailgate for two - Chicken, Beef Ribs, Baby Back Pork Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Kielbasa, all on one BIG plate.  All meals come with your choice of two sides and I recommend the mac and cheese or homemade baked beans.

Watch us sample some of the best dishes and pardon me talking with my mouth open.

Don't just take my word for it.  I asked customers what they thought of the food.

Ken who is from the Albany area and a Dallas, Texas native eats at Tin Rooster on a regular basis.  His favorite dish is the brisket, which he says 'tastes just like home.'

Clive and Kaitlyn were first timers.  They decided to stop on their way by and just followed their nose to the Tin Rooster.  Both are looking forward to coming back.

The Tin Rooster is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday at 5pm.  See their full menu at Turning Stone.
