Tim McGraw has announced a concert benefitting Sandy Hook Promise, set for this summer in in Hartford, Connecticut.

All proceeds will go to the non-profit organization, which was founded by family members who lost loved ones in the heartbreaking mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The organization exists to protect children from gun violence by implementing mental health and gun safety programs.

“Out of this tragedy a group was formed that made a promise to honor the lives lost and turn it into a moment of transformation,” McGraw says. “Sandy Hook Promise teaches that we can do something to protect our children from gun violence. I want to be a part of that promise — as a father and as a friend.”

The Sandy Hook tragedy personally affected McGraw. Dean Brown, the fiddle player in his touring band, is a longtime friend of Mark Barden, a musician who lost a child in the heart-wrenching 2012 tragedy.

“I look forward to being a part of a night of hope and promise and music that will help continue the great work that Sandy Hook Promise is doing,” Brown says.

“We are humbled that Tim would do this for us,” Barden notes. “Dean and his wife Cindy helped my wife and I through our darkest hour and helped buoy our spirits. It meant more than words could ever say."

Tim McGraw: A Concert for Sandy Hook Promise is set for July 17, 2015. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, April 17, at 10AM ET through Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Billy Currington, Chase Bryant and other special guests will also perform during the show.

Individuals who want to donate directly to Sandy Hook Promise can do so through their website. McGraw is also booked to perform at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival, as well as Country Jam.
