A tragedy in Rome after a house fire claims the life of three young children.

The blaze broke out Monday July 23 around 11:48 pm at Patrick and Gabrielle Croad's house on Pine Haven Circle in the city of Rome. 3 of their 4 children died in the blaze; 4 year-old Eliesse, 3 year-old Patrick and 2 year-old Temprince. 1 year-old Kaydence was taken to SUNY Upstate Medical Center with burns on her arms, according to New York State Police.

24 year-old Gabrielle Croad, 25 year-old Patrick and 1 year-old Kaydence were taken to SUNY Upstate Medical center.

Gabrielle suffered 2nd degree burns and was taken to the hospital with her husband Patrick, who was under evaluation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Alicia Waterman, who lives on Lauther Road, says she heard a loud explosion laying in bed and then sirens. "My heart breaks for this family."
