Thompson Square Headlines FrogFest

ACM and CMA Duo of the Year, Thompson Square headlines Wild West FrogFest & Rodeo at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds June 14th. They join Tyler Farr, Trailer Choir and James Wesley on stage this year, presented by Whites Farm Supply.

Duo of the Year

Being named Duo of the Year is quite an honor for Keifer and Shawna Thompson. 'The first time was extremely special. My gosh to win it a second time. We were both dumbfounded. My heart was beating out of my chest. I'm surprised the camera couldn't see it.'

We're excited to have Thompson Square headline FrogFest, but it's nostalgic for Shawna. 'It reminds me of when I was a kid, my dad use to take me to the rodeo.' But we won't see Shawna or Keifer rinding any bulls. 'The last mechanical bull I rode, I broke my thumb in a couple different places. I'm still hurting over that and that's been over a year. We had live ones on my grandfather's farm and that didn't work out to well for me either,' explains Keifer.

Thompson Square has been on several major tours but Keifer says they want to do something different this year. 'There was an opportunity to go overseas and play for our Navy. We're going to travel all over the world and do that.'

If you haven't seen Thompson Square perform Keifer says you're in for a little bit of everything.  'There's going to be a lot of different moments. There's going to be very high energy. It's going to have some nice sweet moments. It's not on 11 all the time. It gives you time to breathe. It's the kind of show we like to see when we go see a concert,' explains Keifer.

Shawna and Keifer have been married 13 years, balancing their career and personal life with a great sense of humor. 'She's like a third testicle. You just can't get away from

it.' Shawna explains 'Keiffer bought a motorcycle thinking he could get away from me. But I threatened him with divorce if I didn't have a seat on there.' Sounds like Shawna should just have her own but Keiffer says 'she and I both know that's not a good idea. On a scooter she couldn't make decisions fast enough to even keep it upright so I think a motorcycle might be too much.'

Tweet Trouble

During filming of the video for 'If I Didn't Have You,' Keifer got into a bit of trouble over a tweet. 'My mom called me freaking out. I was just trying to post a teaser from the video shoot. I took the picture of Shawna in the hospital bed, which wasn't even Shawna, it was her double. Before I could explain what it was, I was called back on set and by the time I got back our label was calling and our family was panicked.'

Pet Peeves

Shawna: 'Mean people on twitter.' Kiefer 'Being treated different now.  It's really frustrating because we are no different. I have friends I grew up with who say they don't want to call anymore because they don't want to bother us. '

Free Time

Shawna: 'We recently bought some 4 wheelers. We went camping, bought a tent, built a fire, hung out and just was one with nature.'
