The results are in! According to Guinness World Records, Corduroy the Cat is the oldest feline in the world! He is 26 years old and he lives with his owner in Oregon. The average lifespan for a domesticated cat is 15 years. Corduroy is still going strong! The 'nine lives' rule for cats must really apply to him.

Corduroy was born on August 1st, 1989 and has been with his owner, Ashley Reed Okura, since she was 7 years old. According to Guinness,

The record-breaking feline previously held the record back in 2014, but lost out when the owners of Tiffany Two submitted a claim for the title. With Tiffany Two sadly recently passing away at the amazing age of 27 years, 2 months and 20 days, the record is now back in the hands of Corduroy.

Let's hope Corduroy can go for the ultimate record of Oldest Cat to Ever Live, which is held by Creme Puff born in 1967 and who died in 2005 at the age of 38.
