The Utica Comets, their fans and their arena, our very own Utica Memorial Auditorium, have been honored by The Stadium Journey website. The Stadium Journey is dedicated to reviewing and rating professional athletic arenas, fans, and atmospheres around the globe. This website rated overall the Utica Auditorium and Comets fans the sixth best out of the thirty AHL teams. Each team is rated on a scale from 1-5 stars. The Comets had a rating of 3.9. In his review, Stadium Journey Special Correspondent Andrew Kulyk states,

Upstate New York is a minor league hockey traveler's dream, with AHL outposts in Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Albany all hugging the I-90 corridor. Utica might be the most easy one to overlook, especially standing next to the longer tenured and storied franchises in Rochester and Syracuse. Yet here the hockey experience is special. The Aud is one of those great old school barns, the local beers are tasty and must have, and it is one of those hockey venues not to be missed.

The ratings are based on seven categories including: Food and Beverage, Atmosphere, Neighborhood, Fans, Access, Return of Investment, and Extras. In the categories of Food and Beverage and Atmosphere, the AUD was ranked 5 out of 5. In the categories of Fans, Return of Investment, and Extras, the AUD was ranked 4 out of 5.

Out of all the New York AHL teams The Comets were voted number one! This team and this organization is something this city has needed for a long time. It is an essential part of Utica's growth and this recognition only confirms that good things have been happening to our area and will continue to do so. Rob Esche, his business partners, and his staff did an amazing job of transforming this somewhat run down facility into something this city can be proud of, and it's only the beginning. In the coming years we as Comets fans can expect luxury boxes, restaurants, and even outdoor renovations that will only add to our experience. For a team in it's inaugural season this is an incredible honor and the whole Utica Comets staff is to be commended. Congratulations are also in order for YOU, the fan, who stuck with this team through some initial loses and growing pains. You were the ones who had faith and hope for this team and I myself believe they will be great. With an 11-18-2-2 record and a lot of hockey left, I'd say there is a lot to be hopeful for. Go Comets!
