The Swamp Drivers Audition For America's Got Talent

Local band 'The Swamp Drivers' drove to New York City to audition for 'America's Got Talent.'

Terry Johnson says "we decided to take the plunge and had our 90 seconds of fame."

The band is not only known for their unique sound, but where it comes from. The instruments are made from household items like brooms, pitch forks, shovels, hoes and even a frying pan. "You see a guy with a one string garden hoe, bed pan base and garbage can drums, the first thing you do is smile," says Johnson, despite having security confiscate their one-stringed hoe before the auction.

Thousands of hopefuls practiced their unique talents before going before the judges. "There was a very large guy in a very small Captain America outfit that was humming right beside us. Another guy was swallowing a balloon and blowing it up out his nose," says Johnson.

The guys won't find out if they made it until next February which Johnson says "will drive us crazy."

If they receive good news, the band will head back to audition before the America's Got Talent judges, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Simon Cowell, who replaces Howard Stern.
