Another central New York restaurant goes up in flames. The Melting Pot in Destiny USA has closed.

The company made the announcement on Facebook. "We regret to announce The Melting Pot of Syracuse has closed for business indefinitely as of Monday, July 16 due to ongoing financial losses that are no longer sustainable."

The restaurant may not be gone from CNY forever though. "While there are no confirmed plans to re-open this location, The Melting Pot Restaurants, has a strong interest to return to the Syracuse area in the future."

The closing is sad but not surprising. We use to go to The Melting Pot for special occasions since it opened in 2012. As time went by the portions got smaller, the prices got higher and the service even went downhill. The last time we were there we actually walked out after waiting over an hour for our food.

While we wait to see if The Melting Pot opens a new restaurant in Syracuse, there are locations in Albany and Rochester you can visit.

This isn't the first restaurant to close at Destiny USA. Toby Keith's Bar & Grill closed unexpectedly in May of 2015 but abruptly closed in 2015. Last November news broke the owner, Frank Capri was a former member of the mafia, in witness protection. After the restaurant closed, employees had paychecks bounce, Destiny USA sued the company for back rent and a tax warrant was placed on the restaurant after failing to pay over $189,000 in sales tax revenue from 2013.
