It was on this day, back in 1969, ABC debuted the first episode of "The Johnny Cash Show." The show was on the air until 1971 and featured some amazing guests like Bob Dylan, Merle Haggard, Roy Orbison, George Jones and Conway Twitty.

According to JohnnyCash.com, "He [Johnny Cash] used the show as a forum to discuss and raise the country's collective consciousness about social issues of the day, such as plight of the Native Americans, prison reform and the conflict in Vietnam."

For those of you, like myself, who were never fortunate enough to watch the show when it was on the air, there is a DVD set of the show for sale.

So, as just a little taste of what the show was like, here is a clip of Johnny Cash singing with Roy Orbison. Two greats coming together on one stage--amazing!

I would really like to know who out there watched the show when it was on ABC? Did you enjoy it?
