The First Man on the Moon Neil Armstrong Dies
Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon has died. He was 82.
According to USA Today, Armstrong had undergone heart surgery Aug. 8, three days after his 82nd birthday. His family said Armstrong passed away from post-surgery complications.
Armstrong was mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission on July 20, 1969 where he said the infamous phrase ‘that’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’
Armstrong was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Richard Nixon, the Congressional Space Medal of Honor by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2009.
