Can you believe it was ten years ago The Dixie Chicks downhill slide began. They were on top of the world, winning awards, selling out concerts and making great music.  Then it all changed on a London stage when Natalie Maines opened her mouth to bash President Bush.

Flashback to 2003: The Dixie Chicks bad mouth the President:

NATALIE MAINES got a TON of negative press, after saying, on a London stage 'She's ASHAMED that PRESIDENT BUSH is from Texas.' She later apologized to President Bush because 'my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect.'

Flash-forward to 2013: The Chicks Never Fully Recovered:

The Dixie Chicks only released one more studio album, 'Taking the Long Way' in 2006. Even though it sold great and got a ton of awards, they were still never quite the same.

Their tour sales were down, especially in the South. Some radio stations refused to advertise for their concerts. A documentary called 'Shut Up and Sing' even came out to document their struggles after Natalie's remark. Which I think after watching, made them look worse.

The to rub salt in the wound, The Chicks released 'Not Ready to Make Nice.'

Just last year, Natalie took a shot Jason Aldean after his Grammy performances, Tweeting 'Well the good thing about his mic going out is suddenly the song got a lot more in tune.'

The Chicks have a few dates scheduled this summer, but Natalie says they have no plans after that. She also recently said this about going back to country fans, 'You know what? It's kind of like going back to your abusive husband. I'm just not feeling it. I'm sorry.'

I LOVE The Dixie Chicks, for their music only!  I'm upset Natalie couldn't keep her mouth shut and just sing, like the documentary said.  I have every CD they made and wish they'd done more.  The final straw for me was the 'abusive husband' quote from Natalie.  Why can't see just let sleeping dogs lie?

Are you still a fan of The Dixie Chicks or are you over them?
