You just cooked a Thanksgiving dinner that will go down in history as one of the greatest ever made. Cleanup mode is in full swing. You start sending your Thanksgiving scraps down the disposal. Should you though?

Before you end up with a massive clog, mess, or broken garbage disposal, take a look at this list. Here's the following Thanksgiving foods you should never ever put down the garbage disposal:

1) Turkey

Turkey is the rock-star of Thanksgiving. It's the dish people instantly visualize as their dinner. However, turkey should NEVER EVER come into contact with your garbage disposal. Plumb Doctor gives you two reasons:

One, grease, oil, and fat should never be put down your drain. When grease cools, it solidifies in your drain, and like anything else, will then cause a drain clog. Worse, bones are a definite no for your garbage disposal. They're too strong for both the motor and the blades and will end up getting caught in the blades or even burning out the motor."

Avoid throwing that turkey down the drain.

2) Coffee Grounds

Granted, coffee isn't a rock-star of Thanksgiving like turkey is, but it's an important part of the day. We all need coffee right? Watch where you put those coffee grounds though. Len The Plumber reminds you that the grounds can put some wear and tear on the blades.

3) Celery

Most great cooks use celery as a part of the stuffing. However, watch out disposing of that extra celery:

Fibrous vegetables, as well as butcher’s string, can ball up and even cause the seals to leak by dislodging them."

Scotts Dale points out for you to just throw it in the garbage.

4) Potatoes & Potato Skins

Mashed potatos are the perfect date to stuffing on a Thanksgiving plate right? Well, they both don't want to end the night in the disposal. Especially your potatoes, you need to watch out.

The starch in potatoes and potato skins that ultimately becomes a gummy glue which wraps around the garbage disposal’s moving parts and clogs up pipes. Instead, peel potatoes into a strainer or into the sink with something covering the garbage disposal."

As The Fun Times Guide points out, unless you want glue in your drain be careful.

5) Pie

Every great baker knows that baking calls for eggs, but your garbage disposal doesn't. Hope Plumbing wants to remind you that eggshells don't do well in a disposal. This is because of the thin membrane on the inside of the shell.

A garbage disposal can't do anything with it, and it will end up wrapped around the blade. If you have a compost pile, eggshells can be composted instead."

Also, the pie will end up sticking to the blades. Fruit is never a great idea to shove down the pipe either.
