Texas Bowl – Syracuse Versus Minnesota – Uncle Smitty’s Take

If you're a college football fan it truly is the most amazing time of the year.  And if you're a Syracuse Orange fan like Uncle Smitty it all culminates today with the Texas Bowl.  SU plays Minnesota at 6 tonight.  Click to get Uncle Smitty's take on the match up.

The Orange come into the game with 6-6 record, becoming bowl eligible with that 34-31 win over Boston College to end the regular season.  Minnesota had some Big Ten title hopes until a couple of late season losses.  The Orange make their 3rd bowl appearance in the last 4 years, while Minnesota is the first school to make two appearances in the Texas Bowl.

Uncle Smitty, who rates SU games on the number of Dome Dogs he'll nervously eat during the game, has this one at an all time high 5 and one-half dogs.  That may be due to The Orange's two losses to Big Ten Schools earlier in the year, Penn State 23-17 and Northwestern 48-27.  Or it could be Minnesota owns a 3-1 record against Syracuse since 2009.
