Terry McDermott Rocks out Blake Shelton’s ‘Over’ on ‘The Voice’ – Top 8 Recap

It’s down to the Top 8 on ‘The Voice‘ with two left on Blake Shelton‘s team. Terry McDermott rocked a country song from his coach and Cassadee Pope closed the show.
Terry McDermott
Rocker Terry McDermott made coach Blake Shelton’s night by turning his hit ‘Over’ into a rock song.’You just performed that song the way I wish I could. You did all the things that vocally I can’t do. It was amazing to hear it that way, the way it was suppose to be. You just proved yourself as the real deal. Now we all know you can do anything. That is rare, unbelievable and you’re a star.’

Cassadee Pope
Cassadee Pope closed the show after her emotional performance of ‘Over You’ last week. She went back to her roots with ‘Are You Happy Now’ by Michelle Branch. Blake was like a proud papa ‘last week was about Cassadee coming out and laying her heart and soul on the stage. This week showed America, you’re every bit as good a singer as anyone in this competition. You just sang the crap out of that song. It was amazing. Thank you for being on my team.’

Team Cee Lo
Cee Lo Green is the only coach with all three of their contestants left. Cody Belew took on Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love,’sounding a lot like Freddy Mercury. Nicholas David stuck with his soul roots and killed Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ and Trevin Hunte blew everyone away with Whitney Houston’s ‘The Greatest Love of All.’

Amanda Brown kicked off the night by putting her own rock flair into Adele’s ‘Someone Like You,’ while Melanie Martinez, showed her emotional side with ‘Too Close.’

While Cee Lo has all his team, Christina Aguilera is down to one; Dez Duron who went with Justin Bieber’s ‘You Smile.’ Although he makes the girls smile with his good looks and soulful voice, he may be one of the two going home tonight.

Cee Lo and the Muppets will perform on tonight’s elimination show on NBC at 8. Two more will be sent home and my money is on Dez, who is good but not as good as some of those left in the competition. I thought Cody would go last week, so I’ll be surprised if he isn’t sent home this week. Tune in to see who stays and who goes. GO TEAM BLAKE!
