Did you catch the gloves work by Team USA during the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics? Ironically they came from Gloversville, NY.

The gloves are suede with fringes hanging off them and beaded American Flags and Olympic rings.

Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter of Team USA and when it came time to make this year's gloves for the athletes, they went with leather supplied by Sunderland Leather Company of Gloversville.

The Sunderland company's leather was brought to the attention of Ralph Lauren by a company that has worked with both RL, and Sunderland Leather in the past.

According to NewYorkUpstate.com, Peter Kiernan of Olympia Gloves was looking for a leather supplier for the project and suggested Sunderland's Leather because he knew it was high-quality.

Now Team USA is wearing American Bison leather supplied by Sunderland Leather Company from right here in Central New York!

Owner Matthew Smritc says the bison is a strong, durable leather that has great insulation.

This isn't the first time Sunderland Leather has helped create Olympic attire. In 2002, they supplied leather for coats worn by Americans and Canadians for the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
