If you are a performer he is definitely the guy you want in your audience. His name is Bryan Bednarek and he recently set a new world record for clapping. Bryan performed 802 palm bruising hand claps in one minute breaking the previous record of 721 claps. This guy really gets around. And around, and around and around. Clinton Shepherd, a manager at the Navy Yard of Chicago, has set a new world record for continuous Ferris Wheel riding having gone round and round, up and down for 48 hours, 8 hours and 25 minutes breaking the old record by over 13 hours. Shepherd--who was given a 5 minute break per hour--stayed awake the entire time. How did he do it?
It is often said that records are meant to be broken but, in some cases, that may not be true. The reason isn't that those records are beyond the ability of anyone to break them but because they are so bizarre that no one would even think to do so. After doing 50 minutes on a treadmill I feel a sense of great accomplishment. Imagine how insufficient I felt when I heard about the 100-year old man who ran and finished a full marathon yesterday in Toronto, Ontario. According to AP Fauja Singh finished the marathon in a little under 8 hours some 6 hours behind the race winner Kenneth Mungara of Kenya.
