While many associate Elvis with "Rock & Roll", and rightfully so, many of his pop hits were big country hits as well. June 22, 2012 One of the most successful singer/songwriters in both country and pop music is Kris Kristofferson, and today is his 76th birthday. We begin today's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with a song he wrote and Sammi Smith recorded, "Help Me Make It Through The Night", which went to number one in 1971. You may remember when he was recording with the Highwaymen (along with friends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings), so we'll feature a song recorded by them as well.

April 23, 2012 The statue honoring Willie Nelson was officially unveiled Friday in Austin, Texas. Some 2000 spectators watched as the statue--privately funded by a local arts group--showing Willie is a casual pose with his guitar by his side was unveiled. After the ceremony Willie serenaded the crowd with his newest song "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die", a tune dedicated to one of his favorite "weeds". Check out the unveiling ceremony.
