			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Old man winter may have gotten a late start but he has more than made up for it with a heavy blast of snow that has dropped between 6-8 inches of the white stuff (more in some spots) overnight with more on the way. The <a href="http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Utica&amp;state=NY&amp;site=BGM&amp;lat=43.1008&amp;lon=-75.2331" target="_blank">National Weather Service</a> has extended the <a href="http://bigfrog104.com/snow-emergency-in-utica-5/" target="_blank">winter storm warning</a> until 1pm for Oneida County and 7pm in Herkimer County. Here is the latest forecast.</p>

The <a href="http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/december-solstice.html" target="_blank">winter solstice</a> isn't until December 22 but here in upstate New York we tend to think of winter beginning much sooner, sometimes even in November. According to the <a href="http://www.noaa.gov/" target="_blank">National Weather Service</a> the normal snowfall total for December in the Mohawk Valley is around 32 inches but so far--nearly halfway through the month-- we have officially recorded less than one in the Utica area. As for the most and least December snowfall totals check out the numbers from <a href="http://www.erh.noaa.gov/bgm/climate/daily.php?site=syr&amp;month=dec" target="_blank">NOAA</a>.</p>
