May 30, 2012 You know that I have a keen interest in what's going on at the F.X. Matt Brewing Company, as a former Utica Club Tour Guide. And we've just learned that brewery has earned some prestigious honors for their quality beers (Schultz and Dooley would be proud).
April 7, 2012 Today is National Beer Day, and it may interest you to know that the very first beer to be sold in the U.S. after the repeal of Prohibition was Utica Club. The story goes that UC was for sale within an hour and a half of the repeal on this day back in 1933. (Shultz & Dooley would be proud).
August 5, 2011 Today, August 5th, is the day that the whole world joins Homer Simpson and millions of others to celebrate beer. According to the website International Beer Day some 278 celebrations across 23 countries will mark the occasion by drawing a refreshing cold one or two. Here in the United States we are fortunate to have hundreds, perhaps thousands, of beers to choose from including great local brews like Saranac, Utica Club and Ommegang. Check out some familiar beer jingles and a classic Utica Club commercial sure to bring back memories.
May 19, 2011 As a lifelong Utica area resident, I have a strong loyalty to the Matt Brewing Company and Utica Club Beer. (We even have Shultz and Dooley salt shakers at home ).In fact, I spent four years of my days at Utica College as a Tour Guide at the Matt Brewery Tour (the best job one could ever hope for). I remain a big UC fan, and now by popular demand, UC Light will be available on tap at various local taverns.
