Richfield Springs Marine Killed in Afghanistan

Marine Corporal Alex Domion, 21, of Richfield Springs has been reported killed in a non-combat related incident in Afghanistan. According to The Marine Times Domion's death, which occurred during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, is being investigated by military officials.

101st Airborne Celebrating 70th Anniversary

"Nuts!" That was the response from the 101st Airborne Divisions acting commander General Anthony McAuliffe when ordered to surrender by the Germans at Bastogne during WW2. It is just one of many historic highlights of the 101st Airborne Division which, according to the AP, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this week as part of Fort Campbell's "Week of the Eagles". The "Screaming Eagles" have often been featured in various venues of popular culture.

Soldiers Fight Airline Bag Fees and Win [VIDEO]

Soldiers returning from Afghanistan are fighting airline fees. The members of the US Army were charged $200 in extra bag fees on the final leg of their trip home to a base in Louisiana. The soldiers were allowed to check 3 bags for free but had to pay the extra fee for the extra bag. The men were so upset about the charges, they made a video and posted it on YouTube. Hours after the video went viral the airline changed its policy, allowing anyone in the military flying coach to check 4 bags at no extra cost. Several other airlines matched the offer.
