The countdown has begun. What, the countdown to Garth Brook's out-of-retirement CD? No, even better. It's the countdown to the return of the Twinkie! America was thrown into a downward spiral late last year when it was announced that the maker of the iconic treat, Hostess, was going out of business and that the cream filled sponge cake was on the endangered goodies list. Hostess, the makers of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, went out of business after striking workers failed to return to work. 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores are closing. There are hopes another company will buy the company and the Twinkies recipe. I sure hope so because I'd really miss my Twinkies.
