The second leg of the "Triple Crown" of horse racing is Saturday, when the 138th Preakness Stakes takes place at historic Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Before "they're off", a special concert will take place today in Pimlico's infield featuring country performers Rodney Atkins (former FrogFest headliner) and Rachel Farley.

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera became the first player to win a triple crown in 45 years. Cabrera lead the American League with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs, and 139 RBI. The last winner was Boston’s Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. Read more from MLB.com here.

Late breaking news according to CNN, “I’ll Have Another” has been scratched from Saturday’s 144th Belmont Stakes, so no Triple Crown Winner again this year. You didn't have to be a betting man or woman to experience goose bumps while watching Secretariat win the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths to complete horse racing's Triple Crown on this day, June 9, 1973. The big chesnut 3-year old became the first horse in twenty-five years to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes all in dominating fashion and endearing himself to the entire nation.
