Bavarian Festival This Weekend

One of the signature Central New York summer events, The Utica Maennerchor Bavarian Festival, kicked off last night and continues through the weekend. Great food--including many German favorites--music and drink--again, including many German favorites-- make this annual festival behind the club on Flanagan Road in Marcy a favorite family fun event. In case you have never been to it here is a little primer on how to respond to the "Ein Prosit" (Good health, cheers) toast which is offered numerous times throughout the day and night.

Another Beautiful Night For Saranac Thursday

The weather during the "Frog Days of Summer" has been ideal for so many outdoor events, and it's looking good again for tonight's Saranac Thursday. My good friend and colleague Matt Herkimer and I attended last week's Saranac Thursday to cheer on fellow Frog DJ James Pond and his band. Tonight, music is provided by "Crazy Fools". (hmmmm...I'm glad that wasn't in the same sentence with Matt and me).

Lowville's Cream Cheese Festival One of America's Wackiest Summer Events

For most of the year Lowville is a sleepy little community of around 4,000 people. However for one day in September the village comes alive with what Trip Advisor calls one of America's "10 wackiest summer events", its annual Cream Cheese Festival.
