Be prepared to see a few people in "Spock" ears or some other item of "Trekkie" apparel this weekend as the latest entry into the "Star Trek" series, "Star Trek Into Darkness" heads into theaters today. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto return as Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock respectively. Take a look at the trailer and local theater show times.

Audi has a new ad out featuring the old AND new versions of Spock from 'Star Trek.' It starts with Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto playing virtual chess on their iPads. Then they decide to meet up for a round of golf, and the whole thing's just an excuse to show how great Quinto's new Audi is compared to Nimoy's Mercedes. Nimoy even sings 'The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins,' a song he released in the 60's. In the end, he takes out Quinto with the Vulcan nerve pinch.

Leonard Nimoy 82 Years Old Today

As you probably know by now, I'm a "Trekker", big time. And today Leonard Nimoy, a.k.a "Spock" of "Star Trek" fame is 82 years old. Just last Friday, William Shatner turned 82, and if you know their background, both played characters who were best friends on "Star Trek", and the two are best friends in real life.

My wife and I are Trekkers (that's the proper word, not Trekkies), so when a new Star Trek film is on the way, we're excited about it. Even though "Star Trek, Into Darkness" doesn't open until May 17th, for Trekkers that means it's almost here! We're both fans of the "classic cast" featuring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy (Kirk and Spock), so we're even more interested in the new films as the story line is about the early days of those characters.
