Popcorn has long been a staple at home American snack. You can pop it in a popcorn maker, swirl it on a stove, microwave it or but it popped in a bag. It seems now that the latter option--buying it pre-popped rather than microwaved--is becoming more and more popular because we American's are getting too lazy and/or impatient to wait. Really?
Bad news for movie goers. No, there isn't a new Pauly Shore movie coming out, worse. According to Reuters the cost of popcorn will be going up due to the drought conditions blanketing the midwest. "This is the worst season we've ever had," said third-generation popcorn purveyor Mark Shew, who runs the family's farm in Vigo County, Illinois. The report points out that it's not just movie theater popcorn that will see the increase.
Now that the holidays are over, and we're in the midst of the "Frog Days of Winter", we can concentrate on important questions in life. And one question that I have is "What happens to all of the popcorn in those three section popcorn cans"?
