The country community lost a respected member of its family on Sunday morning (Nov. 19) with the death of Mel Tillis, and his daughter, Pam, is grieving.
Country Music Hall of Famer Mel Tillis is ready to hit the road -- but not for a tour. He'll leave Nashville's TriStar Centennial Heart & Vascular Center Friday (March 14) after a heart surgery that his daughter Pam Tillis describes as a "routine procedure."
Country music legends, Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan are combining their talents to form the duo, "Grits and Glamour." Separately the two have released a mountain of hits, but this will be the first as the duo. Click to check out the first song, "I Know What You Did Last Night" and watch a behind-the-scenes clip of the video shoot.
Today on the "Country Classic Double", we begin with "The Real Thing" (sort of) - "Coca-Cola Cowboy" by "Mel Tillis , the number one country song on this day in 1979. We'll complete the double with Mel's daughter Pam Tillis and her big hit back in 1992, "Maybe It Was Memphis".
Today, we kick off our "Country Classic Double" with Pam Tillis and her number one song twenty years ago today, "Maybe It Was Memphis". While having a famous father (Mel Tillis) made her name more familiar to the country audience, Pam had a successful solo career on her own.
I always look forward to our Big Frog 104 "Country Classic Double", weekdays at 11:30 a.m.. I hear back from listeners how they like to hear some of the good old songs from the good old days. Today, we feature Pam Tillis as our first artist of the double, as on this day, August 26, 2000, she was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
